BTS announced they will not submit their music for consideration at the 2027 Grammys. The apparent target: the awards' new best Asian pop performance category. The superstars said they hope their music "can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language," per Pitchfork.

The boycott lands just over a month after the Recording Academy unveiled the category. It drew a same-day response from Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., per Billboard. When the world's biggest boy band skips music's biggest night, everyone notices — and the Academy's newest category just got its most famous holdout.
