Bonnie Tyler, the Welsh voice behind "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Holding Out for a Hero," died Wednesday at 75, her family and team announced. The death followed emergency intestinal surgery, her team said.
Tyler's gravel-and-glitter voice defined the '80s power ballad, earning her three Grammy nominations and three Brit Award nods along the way. Tributes came from Kevin Bacon, Rod Stewart, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, The Hollywood Reporter notes. When your mourners span "Footloose" and Kensington Palace, you did something right.
